Hawthorn Project – Garden Design

After 12 months perfecting the backyard design, we’re excited to kick off building at our Hawthorn mission subsequent month.

The temporary given by our shoppers, a stunning household of 4, was to modernise their entrance, rear and aspect backyard areas.  While our strategy was to offer these areas a recent make-over it was necessary to stay true to the elemental heritage options of the Victorian period property.

A big garden, driveway and conventional path to the veranda had been all excessive on the precedence checklist for the entrance backyard, while a studio and pool with room for the children to play was our focus for the rear.

For the aspect space, we designed a paved courtyard that might be edged by a low hedge and have conventional clipped Buxus spheres.  Bluestone might be used all through the backyard with a recent format and end, contrasting with the extra conventional textural qualities of Filetti ‘Endicott’ paving as a nod to yesteryear. The continuation of the Filetti inlay between the pavers attracts the attention down the aspect of the property. Not solely will this improve the general design, this function will assist hyperlink all areas of the backyard and assist transition from conventional to modern.

Our planting plan for this mission has a powerful perennial bias. We’re utilizing a really related plant palette to the unique backyard, structured in a extra modern method. Blended plantings similar to Escallonia ‘Pink Pixie, Ajuga ‘Jungle Magnificence’, Salvia ‘Tanzerin’, Rosa ‘Golden Celebration’, Rodgersia ‘Hercules’ and Dierama ‘Portwine’ will function within the entrance and aspect gardens with deciduous timber similar to Cercis canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’, the Trident Maple Acer buergerianum, Crab Apples Malus ioensis ‘Plena’ and Malus transitoria ‘Royal Raindrops’ and the attractive Dogwood Cornus x ‘Stellar Pink’, bordering the Bluestone steppers. Perennials might be anchored by a screening hedge. Smaller deciduous timber with various colors and foliage shapes are additionally deliberate. Our purpose is to maintain the entrance entrance easy but impactful.  We’re reusing the unique rose obelisks positioned throughout the giant entrance perennial boarder.

We’re actually enthusiastic about this mission and stay up for sharing developments as we progress.
